International Link Outages causing slow connection to our server

Dear Customer,

Kindly be informed that you may experience a slow connection to your server due to outages on some international link.

The root cause of this issue is due to the southen Taiwan earthquake which struck at Richter 7.1 magnitude causing the APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) submarine cable fault between Shantou, China and Tanshui, Taiwan and between Lantau, Hong Kong and Chongming, China. The issue occur on 12.07 a.m. on 27th December 2006.

Kindly also be informed that all our technical support center which is located in Malaysia, will have delayed in response to the helpdesk request as our helpdesk system is hosted in US server and accessing to the system is slow as of the major outbreak of the telecommunication in Taiwan.

The user that affected by this matter:
1) Our Malaysia user whose domain is hosted in our US server which IP is starting from 72.18.131 and 72.18.132.
2) Our International customer who is hosted in our Malaysia server which IP is starting from 202.75.42 and 202.75.48

Based on the Malaysia ISP TmNet's announcement, they are working on this with the International provider and there is no ETA on when the connection will be fully restored. However, they have taken then measure of routing the Internet traffic to their backup links for traffic going to US, Europe, Taiwan,Japan ..etc User will experience slowness during this period.

We are seeing performance improvement on the Internet speed to the US, Europe and other countries. The ping latency has dropped to 500ms+ compare to 900ms+ on few days back. In additional to that, we have also see Malaysia ISP - TmNet has taken measure of rerouting the traffic to others router which helps in speed up the Internet traffic in Malaysia. The International link is yet being fully restored but we are seeing improvement in overall connection speed from Malaysia to foreign countries.

According to the latest news by Malaysia local news agency - BERNAMA, Malaysia local ISP - TmNet is expected to recover approximately 80 per cent bandwidth capacity for Internet traffic to US by Jan 12 and full restoration is expected by Jan 20.

The on-going restoration works undertaken by the consortium for its Internet services, which were affected by the earthquake off Taiwan on December 26th, 2006. To date, the ISP have already recovered more than 80 per cent bandwidth capacity for the Internet traffic.

In view of these unforeseen circumstances, the consortium has confirmed that the full restoration will be completed by January 29th, 2007. Your patience is much appreciated during this restoration process.
