Announcement updates:
We notice that there are still a great number of accounts which are exceeding the inode limit. In view of this, the management had decided to provide more time for all users to reduce their inode usage.

Exabytes shall set the current inode limit to 400,000 for now instead of 250,000 which was announced earlier.

However, the limit of 400,000 is only applicable for April only and we will continue to reduce it in the coming month. All users who are still exceeding the inode limit are advised to housekeeping their hosting files as soon as possible.

Dear Valued Customers,

This is an early announcement that Exabytes will start to enable inode limitation on cPanel.

OUR INODE POLICY:

WHAT IS INODE
An inode is a data structure used to store all the information about the files on your hosting account, which include emails, files, folders and everything you upload, create or store on the server. The number of inodes indicates the number of files and folders you have.

HOW IT AFFECTS YOU
Exabytes shall apply inode limitation on all shared hosting servers starting from February 2014. As some accounts have already exceeded the inode limit, we will first set the limit on 500,000.

Subsequently, the inode limit will be amended to 250,000 in April 2014.

WHY IS THIS SETTING NEEDED?
This is to protect all the data of our clients on the hard disk as high inode usage on hard disk can cause serious problem such as data corruption and loss. Once the setting is applied, you will be able to view your inode usage on cPanel.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF MY INODE USAGE EXCEEDS THE LIMIT?
You will not be able to add new files or receive new emails. You website will face errors when trying to create new files.

There will be a grace period of 7 days for you to clear your inode once it hits the limit of 250,000.

Optional Solutions:
1) Clear old files and emails to free up the inode.
2) Change hosting plan to Flexi Cloud Server or Dedicated Server.
