How to use Ping on a Mac

Mac OS X also comes with a terminal service window, much like Unix or Microsoft Windows Command Prompt.

Here’s how to use the ping utility in Mac OS X from the command line:

1) Go to Menu select Applications.

2) The Application window will open. Double click on the Utilities folder.

3) The Utilities window will open. Double-click on the Terminal icon.

4) After you have opened the Terminal you may just perform a ping for the Hostname that you wish for.

Example:

ping google.com ( returns a single ping request )
